Ten new ways to shape an image

The effects bench just got much wider. Eight new looks turn tone, edges, symbols, and movement into graphic material. 3D Lab brings type, shapes, and objects into the same pipeline. Sound Reactive lets the work move with a built-in instrument or your own track. Everything still renders on this computer.

01Effect

Contour Map

Turns image brightness into an elevation field. Smooth contour lines travel through the frame in tight bands, carrying glyphs, ticks, map labels, solid blocks, and rare glowing beads.

Good forTechnical portraits, mapped landscapes, product studies, and editorial work that needs a measured, data-rich surface.

02Effect

Contour Type

Keeps the edges and redraws them with punctuation. Strong lines become long runs of slashes, bars, and underscores. Softer detail falls into commas, quotes, and quiet interior stipple.

Good forHigh-contrast portraits, architecture, monochrome posters, and any image that already has a clear silhouette.

03Effect

Glyph Matrix

Rebuilds the image with runic, Glagolitic, and esoteric glyphs. Tone gates decide what appears in highlights, midtones, shadows, and outlines. Sway, edge flow, pulse, CRT glitch, and selective glow bring the grid to life.

Good forAlbum art, title cards, speculative interfaces, and images that should feel coded, ancient, or slightly unknowable.

04Effect

Rain Reveal

Builds the subject from falling streaks. Choose whether drops grow from highlights, shadows, edges, or any mix of the three. They can well up, follow contours, fall away from the shape, and splash at the floor.

Good forFashion clips, isolated figures, dramatic reveals, and dark scenes where motion should carry the image.

05Effect

Retro Matrix

Breaks the frame into stacked blocks, dithered transitions, midtone marks, and a dot grid. Zone controls decide which tonal layers survive. Sway, pulse, CRT glitch, and selective bloom add a live signal feel.

Good forBroadcast graphics, retro interfaces, music visuals, and footage that needs a dense electronic rhythm without losing the subject.

06Effect

Scatter Mosaic

Reduces the image to two inks. Fine ordered dither holds the detail, chunky squares roughen the midtones, loose edge pixels drift into the background, and the frame can melt into stepped columns at the bottom.

Good forBold portraits, print experiments, distressed campaign art, and stills that need controlled digital breakup.

07studio feature

3D Lab

Creates extruded type and SVG shapes, or opens OBJ, GLB, GLTF, and STL objects. Set the camera, light, finish, palette, and animation, then run any Ladybug effect over the object or the whole scene.

Good forDimensional titles, animated logos, object studies, social loops, and 3D work that should share the same look as the rest of a project.

08studio feature

Sound Reactive

Turns sound into motion and live parameter changes. Build a loop in the local rain synth or load your own track. Highlights, midtones, and shadows can each listen to bass, melody, air, beats, or overall level and move as waves, ripples, rises, punches, or drifts.

Good forMusic visuals, performance loops, reactive posters, and exports where the soundtrack and image need to move as one.

09Effect

Symbol Matrix

Maps the image with clean vector stars, crosses, circles, dots, and bars. Adjust the grid, symbol scale, line weight, tonal zones, animation, and selective glow without depending on a font.

Good forIdentity systems, geometric posters, icon-driven graphics, and loops that need a cleaner visual language than text or glyphs.

10Effect

Tone Geometry

Rebuilds tone with three marks: thin lines for broad values, hollow circles for midtones and edges, and heavy bars for highlights. Tune the thresholds, density, angle, inks, glow, and animated grid movement.

Good forGraphic portraits, editorial illustration, kinetic halftones, and images that need structure without turning into a conventional dot screen.
